MSian Syeda Farida Sultana Wins a Bronze Medal at 11th Commonwealth Karate Championship
MS Degree College student Syeda Farida Sultana has made India proud by winning a bronze medal in the women’s under-21 and 61 kg weight category at the 11th Commonwealth Karate Championship held in Durban, South Africa.
The 11th Commonwealth Karate Championship took place from November 28 to December 1, 2024, at the Olive Convention Centre in Durban, South Africa. This victory adds another remarkable achievement to Syeda Farida Sultana’s distinguished career.
She has won the USA Open Karate Championship twice, in addition to claiming victories at the Malaysia Open, Thailand Open, Sharjah Open, and UAE Open Karate Championships. Her consistent success highlights her dedication, perseverance, and exceptional talent in martial arts. She has now added the title of Commonwealth Bronze Medalist Karate Champion to her impressive list of achievements.
Wearing a hijab, Syeda Farida Sultana has been a First Dan Black Belt for eight years. Farida hone her skills at the Pako Martial Arts and Self-Defense Academy in Hyderabad under the supervision and guidance of her father and coach Syed Iftikhar Hussain. Her illustrious sports career reflects her extraordinary determination, which makes her a role model among her contemporaries.

The Commonwealth Karate Championship, organized by the South African Karate Federation, saw participation from 16 countries. Hansi Bharat Sharma, President of Karate India Organization, and Mahesh Goud, President of the Telangana Karate Association, both praised Syeda Farida Sultana’s performance and extended their congratulations.
